Burden of Proof

Did you know that a woman’s word alone in the military can mean “guilty beyond a reasonable doubt” in regards to sex offenses?

Many “He said, she said” cases have resulted in convictions for the accused service member without any other supporting evidence. In some cases, even after the victim is impeached on the stand by a military judge, the accused is still convicted by a military jury. As General Woodward has said “It starts with believing and continuing to believe the victim throughout the legal process.” We guess that also extends to believing the victim after a judge says she is lying.
